Mid-Atlantic Leather (MAL) is the premier leather event on the East Coast, held annually over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The event draws 3,000+ leatherfolk from across the country and internationally, making it the kickoff event of the leather contest season.
Gay Nightlife & Venues
Washington DC's gay nightlife is centered in Dupont Circle and Logan Circle neighborhoods. Key gay venues include JR's Bar & Grill (Dupont, popular with leather and bear community), Nellie's Sports Bar (Dupont, sports bar with outdoor patio), Town (Dance club near Logan Circle), and Bunker (Adams Morgan, late-night dance club).
Getting There
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI). DCA is closest to downtown (5 miles) and accessible via the Metro. IAD requires a Silver Line Metro train. Amtrak arrives at Union Station — walking distance or short Metro ride to Capitol Hill.

The Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill is the official host hotel and books solid fast for MAL weekend. Gay-friendly Dupont Circle and Logan Circle neighborhoods are walkable to the Hyatt. Early booking is essential for MAL weekend.
